Polynomial Calculator
Add, subtract, or evaluate polynomials. Enter coefficients for x², x and the constant.
What is a polynomial calculator?
A polynomial calculator adds, subtracts and evaluates polynomials. Enter the coefficients of x², x and the constant for each polynomial, and the calculator does the algebra.
How to use the polynomial calculator
Enter the coefficients for P and Q as comma-separated values (a, b, c for ax² + bx + c), choose Add, Subtract or Evaluate, and click Calculate. For Evaluate, also enter the value of x.
Polynomial basics
To add or subtract polynomials, combine matching terms: add the x² terms together, the x terms together and the constants together. To evaluate a polynomial, substitute the value of x and work it out.
Example
(x² + 2x + 1) + (x + 1) = x² + 3x + 2. And x² + 3x + 2 at x = 2 is 4 + 6 + 2 = 12.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is (x²+2x+1)+(x+1)?
(x² + 2x + 1) + (x + 1) = x² + 3x + 2. Try it on the calculator above.
What is the value of x²+3x+2 at x=2?
The value is 12. Try it on the calculator above with the Evaluate operation.
How do you add polynomials?
Add matching terms: x² terms with x² terms, x terms with x terms, and constants with constants.
