Percentage Calculator

Find a percentage of a number, what percent one number is of another, and percentage change.

What is a percentage calculator?

A percentage calculator works out percentages for you: what a percentage of a number is, what percent one number is of another, and how much a value has changed in percent. It is useful for discounts, tips, grades, taxes and everyday maths.

How to use the percentage calculator

Choose the mode you need, enter the two values, and click Calculate. For “What is X% of Y?”, enter the percentage as X and the number as Y — for example, X = 15 and Y = 240 gives 36.

Formula

X% of Y = (X ÷ 100) × Y. To find what percent X is of Y: (X ÷ Y) × 100. Percentage change = (new value − old value) ÷ old value × 100.

Example

15% of 240 = (15 ÷ 100) × 240 = 0.15 × 240 = 36.
